Mohamed Shazim Ibrahim, the Chief Executive Officer of the Small Business Bureau (SBB) in Guyana, is a seasoned accounting and finance professional. A graduate of the University of Guyana with a B.Sc. in Accounting, he furthered his education by earning certification as a Certified Accountant (CPA, CGA) in Ontario, Canada. His career began with significant contributions at the Ministry of Finance in Guyana, where he played a pivotal role in developing the Integrated Financial Management and Accounting System (IFMAS). Mr. Ibrahim also worked with the Ministry of Housing and Water on the Low Income Housing project, enhancing his expertise in financial management and project development.

Before his current role, Mr. Ibrahim accumulated extensive experience in both public and private sectors. He served as a Project Accountant at the Central Housing and Planning Authority and as a Financial Analyst at the Ministry of Finance. His international experience includes his position as Controller at Excelsior Foods Inc. in Toronto, where he overlooked financial operations, including cash flow management and financial planning. His diverse skill set, encompassing auditing, team building, banking, SAP, income tax, and cost accounting, has equipped him with the tools to effectively lead and innovate in his current role.

As CEO of the Small Business Bureau, Mr. Ibrahim is dedicated to transforming small businesses into sustainable enterprises. His tenure has been marked by proactive outreach and support for small business owners across Guyana, emphasizing practical assistance and development. He has successfully promoted initiatives that provide financial assistance, training, and mentorship, significantly contributing to the economic empowerment of local entrepreneurs.
